It's taken about 2 months for the buds to grow into leaf. Here we are on 21st March...those black buds make the ash tree easily identifiable even without leaves.
...growing nicely by the 25th....
...by 1st May the flowers are gone, seeds beginning to form & the first leaves break out...
...last years seeds ('keys') are still on the tree. Some have fallen, but many remain until after the leaves come out...

...9th May, seeds are forming the familiar ash-keys that help them become airborne to spread themselves away from the parent tree to begin life on their own (does this sound like our own children?)...
...24th May, leaves are lush & filling out nicely....
I sit on the fence under this tree regularly, leaning back against the trunk, looking out through the branches...
... today the words that floated in were... peace... initiation... initiating peace... I think that's the way we need to move forward through peaceful initiation of ideas rather than confrontation.

fabulous seeing the ash come into full leaf, thank you:)
A glorious post, Suzi. I love the Ash, and you've captured its progress so beautifully here.
Thank you.
Bright Blessings
For all that I've always thought i'd taken notice of things going on outside it's been different since i started doing the weekly photos... being able to look back & compare in a time frame & it's amazing how much more i've 'seen'... a bit more than just strolling & enjoying the countryside. Glad you're enjoying them, cos I am!
Of course you know how much I love your trees-in-progress series....and this is no exception.
Our Ash trees here are usually Mountain Ashes and look quite similar..and they're always among the last to *arrive*....
LOVE these..
xo
this is an incredibly beautiful post and series of photos... to be in the presence of this tree in person must be something so incredibly wonderful... with quiet strength and peaceful energy, and the symbolism of cycles and renewal, i think i would be on that fence quite a lot...
Well I told you in person how amazing the photos were. So when are you writing that book?
Love ya xxxx
Wonderful post - I love trees, and this is a great way of understanding them better. My favourites are oak trees!
