It began like this... with just light guidelines
to keep me straight & in proportion
It grew to this.... building up the texture as I went... squinting through half closed eyes at times to judge how heavy or light the lettering should be & where... introducing contrast in size & weight & letterform, whilst trying to keep an overall unity
and finished up like this... just a bit of cleaning up to do. I used ruling pens & Mitchell nibs. You can see the finished result here
In hindsight, it could have done with an extra line of heavier text to match the border at the bottom, but hey... I reckon it works just fine!

I love it. I won an alphabet in a log give away (beyond words), and have had so much fun playing with stmps ever since. hours of fu. Now time, to translate some of those ideas into felt!
So this is a stamp that you have made? I looked at the link, I may have to uy some more stamps now that i have discovered them. So much fun!
It's wonderful Suzi! I love it just the way it is!
Thanks you two... yes jasmine, I've designed quite a few for Crafty Individuals now, and done lettering for them to use in decorative papers & acetates etc.
Love the stamp Suzi - just been to the Crafty Indivduals site to buy it. Really miss your shop and theirs upstairs!
Hi Jill, yeah sometimes i'm quite nostalgic for it & i can't help looking at empty shops & imagining another 'Individuals' even tho i know i don't want to go down that route again! There was something about the whole place, especially when it was full, wasn't there?
Yes - I loved your shop and the one upstairs too - always came away fired up and ready to create! I only feel like that now after a visit to Sue's studio or a good workshop although now your stamp has arrived, I will soon be making a few birthday cards! Jx
ohhh, so now I know who's hiding behind the designs... lovely stamps, I enjoy using it (as you know)
