Otherworlds...

... the lands of the faerie...

There are worlds within worlds, not too far away. Whole eco-systems, that are probably totally unaware that we are watching.... or are they?

...magical places...

Tiny communities to us, a metropolis to their inhabitants as they scurry about their daily life. Do they wonder what is 'out there' beyond their known world? As we do...

...look into the depths...

It's only a matter of scale. This could be a huge crevasse where unfortunates have plunged into the depths, never to be seen again...

...where we can't tread...

But step back, change your perspective... Have you ever just sat & gazed into the doorway of another world? Just sat & stared, not thinking...? Meditated awhile...? Listened to messages from another time, another place?

...gateways to somewhere...

You can get lost in there for a while... journeying... sensing... learning.... sharing the wisdom of ancient trees & nature sprites. They know we're here, the dryads... nymphs.... fairies... spirits of nature. Their name doesn't matter... feel their energy.... send them your love.... let your higher self connect...

...secret places...

Could someone be watching us, in our tiny world, wondering if we know they're there? Maybe they took a picture on their morning walk & posted it somewhere 'out there'.... we could be ethereal beings in someone else's fairy tale.... couldn't we?

...and fairy houses...

I just love old tree trunks.... Symbols of a greater tree, no longer living in the way it did... but living, thriving in other ways. Look at the textures, the patterns, the colours... they inspire me in so many ways. What about you?

Merge...

Wrote a great post last night (she says modestly, but it was great in my imagination) with just a few bits to add... but its not there to edit, grrrrrrr. The basic point is i'm going to merge healing whispers into this blog... been neglecting it really. I just find it hard to separate things out, i start writing, then think i want to say something along similar lines here (straight double-posting seems cheating somehow), then I  end up not writing either post cos i've thought about it too long & by next time i'm on another train of thought!

I'm a bit torn whether to delete it or keep it there 'just in case', at the moment i'm more focussed on creating a space to promote my lettering art & calligraphy (which i will reveal in due course!)

Back to 'merge'...

Listen to those whispers, rising from within.
Feel those healing whispers, merging with your soul.
Connect to loving energy and let the healing flow.
Allow yourself to grow and heal... trust your self to 'know'.

SHARING THOUGHTS & DREAMS, REFLECTIONS & INSPIRATIONS...
MERGING SPIRITUALITY & CALLIGRAPHY WITH THE WHISPERS OF MY SOUL...

I've just realised something.... These are the words I wrote introducing my respective blogs; both are about merging the strands of energy that run through us... so why would i want to keep them separate? I think maybe when I first came here I was thinking about what other people might want or expect, without actually knowing, perhaps not quite confident of myself in a new environment... Anyway I took the honest blogging tablet, so now you're getting all of me in one place & probably a bit more besides, lol.

I think as we grow as individuals we become aware of the different aspects of our personalities, some we like better than others, some we feel the need to work on.... but the only way to find balance is for all our aspects to merge comfortably, as one. Part of this comes with acceptance of who we are & being able to say 'yeah, i'm actually pretty happy with me, thank you very much'. No bit of us exists independently from the other bits & if some people don't like certain of our aspects, then that really is their problem. Unless we're being deliberately hurtful or deceitful etc (in which case we're really hurting or being dis-honest with ourselves too)

This applies to the human race too... some aspects need a bit (a lot) of work, some being seduced or coerced by harsher elements in our race... but the process of self- awareness has begun. As many of us have found, once we start looking at our selves we begin a process of self-development that never stops. As bits of our personality fight for attention or resist our attempts to improve, so do the nations of the world. Our actions & reactions are influenced by our up-bringing & past, and we find we have to consciously direct our energy to break old patterns of behaviour.... so we need to direct healing energy to certain areas of humanity... to break the cycle of self-harm, of beating themselves up & others, over past actions & knee-jerk reactions...

No one ever said that finding that point of balance is easy, but it can be done.

The ageless melody, unheard, heals
the healing vision, unseen, leads
the true leaders, unknown, rescue
the rescuers, immortal, know...

A path is just a path...

"Any path is only a path, and there is no affront to oneself or others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you… look at every path closely & deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question...Does this path have a heart? If it does, then the path is good, if it doesn’t then it is of no use…"
Carlos Castaneda- The Teachings of Don Juan

I always think of these words when people talk about their particular ‘path’, especially when they wonder whether it is right for them, or when they are seeking new direction… i can’t remember ever worrying about ‘my path’…. maybe cos i’m a wanderer & just enjoy the journey wherever it takes me. I tend to go with whatever feels right & I’m certainly not bothered whether it has a name or what someone else might call it, (or maybe i just have an aversion to being 'defined'!)

The thing is, as soon as someone defines a 'path' it starts changing as others add their bit, & times & perspectives change. As soon as you read this you'll interpret in your own way, and if it was worth passing on, you'd tell it in your own way- in a few conversations, never mind a few 100 or 1000 years there might be a few words the same, but someone would have to be psychic to know what I actually said.

The same goes for all the worlds religions and teachings. You have to use your intuition to extract the bits of value to you, & what you see as being the essence that is worth savouring in each. If you can do that, I don't see it as a fault that you can't make your mind up or 'fit', but a worthy process. I have found elements of pretty much all religions & cultures that are of value to me & can identify with aspects of many differing teachings.

Personally, I don’t feel the need to name whatever it is…. often the name becomes a box that restricts, or a label that others tend to make a judgement of…. once a path is named it seems to either get boxed & stifled, or grows & changes, in each case becoming something different to what it was. I can understand the need for belonging though, something to identify with & feel part of… a means to connect with others with similar values… community.

But then, it’s not the name of a path that give people their values….. they come from within. And people allegedly on the same path can have wildly differing values. That’s the beauty of blog-land…. we gravitate towards people who ‘feel’ right for us, people who ‘have a heart’ that resonates with us. As for my path…. i’m just a spiritual hussy, i’ve flirted with ‘em all & stayed faithful to none! Seriously though, I am faithful…. to my Truth…

My Boy is a Man... officially!

What sort of a mother goes to her son’s 21st without checking her camera is charged? Sometimes I have to shake my head at myself! Result…. only one photo… i am not best pleased as photo opportunities abounded.
Having said that, i nearly forgot to take this… i was quite entranced just watching him, relaxed & happy on ‘his own turf’. It wasn’t intended to be a party as such…. I was succinctly told that he didn’t want a ‘family do’ … he was playing rugby so would be in the club after the game having ‘a few drinks with the lads’!

Hmmm, a few drinks eh? Of course there was some of the family there; for various reasons I’m not really a part of it anymore… but I didn’t care a jot…. nothing could intrude on my enjoyment & pride as i watched him throughout the night.... & i am thankful for my life & "my" family.

You're Still The One...

...sung by Shania Twain. This was a request for a wedding gift which was to be similar to 'Times Like These' which I did a couple of weeks ago, except red & black with a bit of silver... similar but not the same, dark red, darker than a post box, orangey red, no it isn't its quite dark!

Hmmm, red must be one of the hardest colours to describe or match, so with two conflicting opinions on what red & no sample colour, I had a challenge on my hands. I blended various reds in several layers, so it should tone with the room it is going in. The colours are actually deeper & richer than the photos show. The three canvasses will hang side by side, but i managed to chop off the ends in the pics of them all together!

(When I first saw you, I saw love.
And the first time you touched me, I felt love.
And after all this time, you're still the one I love.)

Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong

(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'

I'm so glad we made it
Look how far we've come my baby

(You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're the one I want for life
(You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

Wedding Quotes & Rubber Stamp

While we're on the wedding theme, here's one of the rubber stamps I designed for Crafty Individuals...

(available from craftyindividuals.co.uk)

In the word wedding, notice that 'we' comes before 'I'.

Two hearts connected by a single thread.

You are two people but there is only one life before you.

Chains do not hold people together...
it is the hundreds of threads drawn from your heart.

You start off the day just two people in love
& end it as husband and wife.

Joy is the start of it, sharing is part of it, love is the heart of it.

May your lives be blessed with goodness & beauty
& may your days together be good & long upon the earth.

And here's another...

One heart, one soul.

Two hearts connected by a single thread.

Love can tell, and love alone, whence the million stars are strewn.

No cord or cable can bind so fast or hold so forcibly
as love can do with a single thread.

Like morning bright, love comes without thy call.

A spirit bright, love never dies at all.

Two minds with but a single thought.

Grow old along with me, the very best is yet to be.

Christening Gift

My latest commission.... a 10x 12 inch canvas for a christening gift from a godmother. Girly pink & white with some silver powder dropped into the wet paint. This is a popular idea for 'new baby' gifts too, with the name & date added subtly at the bottom.

The quotations are;
Babies are little bits of stardust sprinkled from heaven.

Angels surround you every day...
may they love & protect you in every way.

The Place of Healing...

... is in your heart. That, i think, is the single most important thing in any healing tradition. It is with the heart that we feel compassion, empathy, gratitude.… and it is the heart that feels unconditional love.

As soon as we offer healing, we offer love…. soothing hurt & pain, building strength & courage… unconditionally. We are the catalyst, a connection, a channel for others… helping them to re-connect their selves, providing a gateway… Ultimately it is for them to access, accept & utilise the energy that we connect with.

Healing must be unconditional, for how can we say what is best for another. Whatever we see or feel or think, we cannot walk their path for them, we cannot control their destiny or manipulate their free-will. But we can be that connection that brings them to a place of healing… in their heart... a place of self-love… unconditionally… a place where they have the strength to choose…. whether to fight or surrender…. to swim or ride the waves...

As soon as we step on to the healing path, we begin our own journey of healing. Whenever we access the healing energies to give to another, they come through us… they help us to heal too, however ‘sorted’ we may think we are!

Someone Bombed The Moon

Someone tore down the willow tree
Not neatly or quickly
But torn, wrenched
I wasn’t there
but I still hear the cries
of tearing bark & branches
A trunk ripped & torn & cast aside
white bark exposed
stark shattered limbs
one sliver still attached…

Last night someone bombed the moon,
or rather crashed a missile
what’s the difference?
Looking for water, they say.
Research
Surely there are better ways
Not so crude
we’re supposed to be civilised
advanced

I sit with the willow
share the shock
stroke her wounds
Still she lives
Accepting. Resigned.
It would have been nice to be warned, but she knew...
They could have been more kind… respectful...
There are better ways
Now she’s calm & hopeful…
she knows

The moon still smiled at me this morning
wistful. resigned.
They try their stupid tricks
But she knows
She’s seen it all before...
she’s seen them scratch her sister.
they don’t know what they’re dealing with
but she knows
and so does her sister

It was wild & windy here at full moon
the trees were silent...
unbelieving...
at the message on the wind.
They gathered strength from Gaia
Ready for the time
all week they stood in silence
gathering reserves
Silent strength, just holding, nothing spare to give
just building energy

And so last night it happened
Nothing really exciting
A scratch, no more
They don’t know what they’re dealing with
or how many share her cause
No thought of repercussions...
won’t understand when they come

Wise woman elder, bark glowing white
transmitting energy
Dark oak glowing
sending out his strength

All the trees and Gaia
rally to the cause
Transmitting through the ethers
supporting faithfully

This morning webs were woven
on every single thing
symbolically repairing
the web of life that’s torn
It seemed they had a purpose
no accident they were there
Absorbing shock waves scattered
transmitting empathy
Connecting grass and tree and flower
Spider Grandmothers children
weaving. repairing.
united in the cause

And now… a day later…
the trees are still emitting
that silent energy
I can hear it in their breathing
steadfast
anchoring...
what will be, will be.

They might have bombed the moon
but… breathe
...breathe calm & peacefully

The willows roots spread deeply
she will re-grow, re-new.
Don’t let emotion blind you
be steadfast like the trees…

Someone loved the moon last night
and the moon still smiles
...she knows

Times Like These....

The words on this set of canvasses have particular significance for the recipient, so there was extra pressure to 'get it right'... especially as they were from my son to his girlfriend! In typical son fashion the answer to any questions about size, style, which bits were important etc etc was "dunno, just do what you think". My favourite answer, so I could please myself to a certain extent. She hadn't really seen my work to know what sort of thing she might like, so I played it fairly safe & kept it legible!

Times Like These by the Foo Fighters

I positioned the chorus in the centre, loose italic ruling pen lettering, with the verses at either side in a more controlled italic with a broad edged pen.

TIMES LIKE THESE- FOO FIGHTERS

I am a one way motorway
I'm the one that drives away
Then follows you back home
I am a street light shining
Im a wild light blinding bright
Burning off alone

Its times like these you learn to live again
Its times like these you give and give again
Its times like these you learn to love again
Its times like these time and time again

I am a new day rising
I'm a brand new sky
To hang the stars upon tonight
I am a little divided
Do I stay or run away
And leave it all behind?

Its times like these you learn to live again
Its times like these you give and give again
Its times like these you learn to love again
Its times like these time and time again

I like these words & can imagine many people being inspired & encouraged by them when they heard the song. I this case it was to do with a cancer battle, but we all have those 'times like these moments' when we really 'feel'... either the love for or from another...

Dreams- Calligraphy Rubber Stamp Design

I’ve been pleasing myself lately with regard to the material I have been using in my calligraphy. Having barely written anything for a couple of years or so, I thought it high time that I tackled something I promised in what seems like another life-time. I have in the past designed rubber stamps for a delightful little company called Crafty Individuals…. go on, take a peek at their website…. even if the only creative bone in your body is in your little toe, you will find something here to inspire you in an arty-crafty way! They may be small, but their reputation is growing world-wide.
I set off with a Happy Birthday design, which took a bit of getting in to (it has been a while!) but things started to gel & this 'dream' one just flowed from my pen. Both designs have been accepted but I'm not sure how soon they will be available. There are quite a few others that i have done here... similar style with positive thoughts, Hope, Believe, Angels, Friends, Love etc (i'll post some pics with the quotations soon) Here it is on a painted background...

Dream Quotations...

Chase your dream, catch that star, always believe in who you truly are.

Believe in the power of your dreams.

Dreams are the true reality.

Explore, dream, discover.

Imagine, feel, hope & dream.

If dreams are wishes we have in our sleep, may all your dreams be yours to keep.

Hopefully, plenty of people will want to use it their crafting & pass on the encouragement to others. Because it's by having dreams that changes existing into living.... and the little dreams are as important as the big ones. We tend to focus on the ‘big’ ones & don’t always give ourselves credit for achieving the simpler ones. So, chase your dream, catch that star, and always believe in who you truly are.

Reiki & Sleep

I find that usually people sleep very deeply after a reiki treatment... especially after a longer session. It's so relaxing & the benefits of a session continue long afterwards & that deep sleep facilitates healing.... Scattered thoughts & fragile emotions are soothed allowing the body to settle down & recuperate during sleep.

However, a friend mentioned that since beginning Reiki she has had trouble sleeping properly unless she is on her own.... and that she has come across others with the same problem... that they seem too aware of a partner in their bed, that their sleep is disturbed. (ok, this in itself is not unusual, but we're talking about a striking difference after a reiki attunement).

I cast my mind back to my first attunement... I don't know if mine was... i was already having disturbed nights.... mum's funeral was the day before my attunement & our family was already fractured before that & i'd spent wakeful nights anyway. So even if the reiki affected me in this way, I don't think i'd have noticed or made the connection. I think, actually, the reiki helped, but i used it regularly at night.

My first thought on reading about this was to wonder whether it depends on the person you're sleeping next to. Not whether it is a casual or permanent ralationship, but on an energy level. The thing is, your energy level, or rather the quality changes after the reiki attunement, your vibrational rate rises. You can actually measure it by dowsing or muscle testing... try it.

Ask what your vibratory rate is on a scale of 1-100 (eg Is it more than 40? 60? etc til you find it) Test again after an attunement... or a treatment, or meditation.... I promise you'll find it interesting. If you check from time to time you might notice how it alters, including when you are feeling low, or amongst people who drain you... then it picks up if you self treat or meditate.

Once you start reiki you find that different people seem to be drawn to you, or you to them... and others seem to drift away. Like attracts like, you're vibrating at a higher energetic level & lower vibrating energy can be uncomfortable. It's not just reiki that raises a persons vibratory rate... attitude, spiritual practice etc do, but a reiki attunement is an instant thing, a sudden change rather than a gradual increase that grows with awareness.

Your sensitivity to energy increases too, both consciously & subconsciously, so really it's hardly surprising that some of us become hyper- aware of the person sleeping next to us. Probably more so if the vibrational levels are further apart.... which can be a problem, especially within an established relationship. You may be able to 'tune out the interference' or find ways to handle this if the relationship is strong, re- synchronising your energies....there are ways..... or perhaps it may eventually lead to a parting of the ways if you are on a different path or wavelength. Each person must work out the way for them.

Casual & new relationships have different needs, and often they are not the same for each person.... physical attraction may be compatible, but mental? emotional? spiritual? (true for any relationship, actually) These aren't areas of our Selves we usually reveal straight away & aren't necessarily immediately apparent in someone else. It may be disconcerting to find that the chemistry formula that previously worked seems to have changed! But once physical needs are met (hopefully!) a person with heightened energy sensitivity is likely to be only too aware of the dis-parity in the quiet of the night. Also, if there is an unequal flow of give & take, the sleeping partner may still be drawing energy from you... consciously dis-connect from them & think about protecting your energy.

An idea that may help sleep in the company of another is to ask for reiki for yourself (and your partner if they are agreeable to the idea) as you go to sleep. Just curl up & hold your hands where they are comfortable, eg shoulder & side, chest & head, one on you & one on the other person... wherever is comfortable.... Ask for reiki to flow. This is a lovely way to fall asleep. You can ask that it stops, say, half an hour after you fall asleep. I don't know that this is necessary.... sometimes i do & sometimes i don't, & havn't noticed a difference, but i know some people need to consciously 'switch off'. If you are not attuned to reiki just ask the Universal energy, or Deity (whatever you are comfortable with) to flow to you, to heal & help your sleep.
